MNDC provides services across the age span for individuals and families dealing with Pervasive Developmental Disorders, such as Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome
We offer a broad range of services, including individual and group therapy as well as caregiver and sibling support
Assessment Our assessment process includes evaluating communication, social-emotional functioning and functional and adaptive behavior. Parent and caregiver input, observations, and direct testing are integrated to profile a child’s functional abilities and challenges, with home and school recommendations.
Intensive Behavior Therapy We develop and implement intensive behavior programs using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and discrete trial therapy. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has been used in the treatment of Autism for more than 35 years. Dr. Ivar Lovaas at UCLA published his research in 1973 that demonstrated the effectiveness of ABA in treating various problems in autistic children. Over the years research continues to provide support for the use of ABA treatments with children with Autism.
Because Autism affects multiple levels of an individual’s functioning (including language, social, and adaptive skills) treatment needs to also target many areas. Children with Autism often require help in the areas of self-help skills, sensory issues, social skills, behavior management, academic training, compliance skills, language acquisition, and skill generalization. Services are provided by in-home behavior technicians with oversight and supervision by doctoral-level behavior consultants. Our intensive behavior program provides a customized program that addresses these areas. Our programs use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and discrete trial therapy to address these areas.
Parent coaching Using the Developmental Individual Difference Relational (DIR) framework, our services incorporate parent-child interaction coaching, using the “Floor Time” model.
